Merce Cunningham Dance Company
Merce Cunningham Constellation
November 5 to December 18

Merce Cunningham. A visionary with 150 dances who dominated choreography in the second half of the 20th century! He celebrated his 90th birthday this year.

To honor him, the Fluxum Foundation joined forces with the Association de la Danse Contemporaine and the Théâtre Forum Meyrin to welcome the Merce Cunningham Dance Company to Geneva in autumn during its world tour to delight us with a three-piece repertory program that has never before been seen in Switzerland. On the program for three evenings, November 26, 27, and 28, at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices: CRWDSPCR (1993), Second Hand (1970), and Squaregame (1976).
Before the exceedingly rare appearance of the Cunningham Dance Company, you’ll have the opportunity to extend your enjoyment with the Merce Cunningham Constellation criss-crossing our country for six weeks, November 5 to December 18, 2009, with no fewer than 16 events providing ample opportunity to soak in the exciting work of this American choreographer.
On the program: shows, a conference, two exhibits, three film screenings, a master class, workshop, and study day, and a round table to close out the event! This project is the result of a collaboration between the ADC, Fluxum Foundation, and the Théâtre Forum Meyrin. The three partners got together because they wanted to mark the occasion of the company’s visit.
The choreographer passed away on July 26 and so this constellation that was to honor his 90 years of creativity and performance has now become an homage to the grand master.

Must-see events to discover one of the major figures of contemporary dance!
